Dear Good HUPC Members!

Just a short note on short notice because the notice was short! The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, only a few days ago, announced a series of open house type meetings to discuss the concerns and issues surrounding wolf coming home to Utah! For background information of the status of wolf under the Endangered Species Act and other issues see <The LYNX> 2/01, 12/00, 10/00 and 6/00).

The meetings will be held throughout Utah and will consist of a slide presentation, an information paper on wolves, informal discussion and comment forms. The slide presentation will be shown twice each evening. It is not a formal hearing but is the beginning of the process of finally discussing the likelihood of wolf coming home to Utah!

Your wild voice will be very important--the agricultural and hunting interests strenuously oppose the wolf coming back to Utah--and we hope you can find a few minutes to attend one of these open houses:

April 16, Monday, 5-10 PM Department of Natural Resources Auditorium 1594 W. N. Temple, SLC

April 17, Tuesday, 6-10 PM Vernal City Offices 447 E. Main St., Vernal

April 18, Wednesday, 6:30-10 PM Provo city Council Chambers 350 W. Center, Provo

April 20, Friday, 6-10 PM Cross Hollows Intermediate School 2215 W. Royal Hunte Dr. Cedar City

April 23, Monday, 6:30-10 PM Eccles Conference Center, Utah State Univ. Logan

Thank you much!

Dick Carter

PS Please take a look at the April Lynx--it should be arriving soon for information on an important issues alert on reservoir reconstruction on Fox Lake on Uinta River within the High Uintas Wilderness. We will soon send out a short email alert!
